Hamer Environmental

Threatened, Endangered and Sensitive Species

Hamer Environmental built its reputation on threatened, endangered and sensitive species studies and research. We have conducted numerous research and impact studies on a variety of species and we are leaders in the fields of Marbled Murrelet and Spotted Owl research. We have developed new techniques for surveying for Marbled Murrelets at inland sites, including using radar and intensive tree climbing methods. We conducted research on Marbled Murrelet nesting biology in Washington State and monitored populations of Xantus's Murrelet, one of the rarest seabirds in the world. In addition, Hamer Environmental has worked directly with state and federal government agencies and private landowners on T&E species issues. An example is our direct involvement with the USFWS Recovery Plan for the Marbled Murrelet, our current investigations with many of the research issues necessary for its recovery, and our role as Endangered Species Coordinator for various private landowners.
